Blue Starlite Drive-In

Friday (Oct. 27) through Tuesday (Oct. 31), Little Beach Park, Minturn

While some of the classic Halloween flicks playing during the extended season at America's highest drive-in (well, technically Buena Vista's Comanche Theater is 104 feet higher, but it's closed for the season), might not be suitable for your youngest family members, Blue Starlite will be screening the likes of "Halloween," "Ghostbusters," and "Beetlejuice" for the five days leading up to Halloween. bluestarlitedrivein.com

Alpine Arts Center Pumpkin Carving

Friday (Oct. 27), 4 to 8 p.m., The Riverwalk, Edwards

Alpine Arts Center's space in the Riverwalk opens for an after school pumpkin carving tutorial, with alcoholic beverages available for purchase for adults. Participants will need to bring their own pumpkins, but all other materials will be provided for a $15 ticketed fee. alpineartscenter.org

Build-a-Scarecrow Contest 

Saturday (Oct. 28), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Vail Public Library, Vail

Kids (along with teens and adults) 5 and up are invited to the Vail Public Library for its annual scarecrow-making competition, where all materials are provided (although participants can bring their own materials, too), and prizes are awarded for creativity. vaillibrary.com

Minturn's Halloween Celebration

Monday (Oct. 30), 6 to 8 p.m., Minturn

Minturn's annual Halloween event is a chance for the kiddies to trick-or-treat around town the evening before the actual night. gominturn.com

Trick-or-Treat Trot

Tuesday (Oct. 31), 2 to 5 p.m., Vail & Lionshead Villages

Vail's annual trick-or-treating event is an opportunity for little ones to run costume-clad through Vail and Lionshead Villages and collect candy from participating merchants. vail-calendar.com

Fall Fun Night

Tuesday (Oct. 31), 4 to 7 p.m., WECMRD Field House, Edwards

Edwards' WECMRD Field House transforms itself into the epicenter of all things Halloween, with trick-or-treating, family-friendly games, bouncy castles, and plenty of candy to go around for all who attend. fallfunnight.com

Twenty-One Plus

If you don't have little ones (or you were lucky enough to score a babysitter), there's an abundance of costumed happenings from Vail to Eagle to keep you busy 'til the wee hours of the morning. 

Vail Ale House

Friday & Saturday (Oct. 27 & 28), 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., West Vail

Vail Ale House is hosting back-to-back Halloween extravaganzas, the first being Friday's "Unicorn Rodeo," where members of the bands Drunken Hearts, Rocky Mountain Grateful Dead Revue, and Grant Farm will host a glitter-filled dance party for costume-clad attendees ($10 cover). If you can't make Friday's shindig, the MTHDS will be taking the stage Saturday night for a Beastie Boys tribute with prizes and giveaways all night long. vailalehouse.com

Minturn Saloon's Annual Halloween Party

Friday (Oct. 27), 8 p.m., Minturn

Minturn Saloon hosts a "big ugly" themed Halloween celebration, although attendees are welcome to interpret whatever that means (and dress accordingly!). $20 gets you into the party, where live music awaits. minturnsaloon.com

Montana's Fang Party

Friday (Oct. 27), 10 p.m., Avon

We don't really know what this is, and neither did anyone we spoke to about the event (or anyone in the discussion section of the Facebook event), but it seems to potentially feature live music and costumes (we were told it was Halloween-related), so if you're willing to bet (like we do) that the fang reference means dress like Bella and her retinue of Twilight vampires and werewolves), go for it! montanasbbqavon.com

Bonfire Haunted Farm Halloween Party

Friday (Oct. 27), 7 p.m. to 12 a.m., Bonfire Brewing, Eagle

Bonfire Brewing's Halloween party is free for attendees, with prizes for best costumes, and a special surprise for anyone sticking to the farm theme (zombie Old McDonald, anyone?). The Burnsville Band provides the tunes all night long. bonfirebrewing.com

Day of the Dead Halloween Party at Maya

Saturday (Oct. 28), The Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa, Avon

No costume is required to indulge in happy hour all night long (and other food and drink specials) at the valley's go-to spot for tequila and gourmet Mexican fare, although, anyone who does come dressed in a festive getup is eligible for two free tacos. richardsandoval.com

Vail Brewing Company's Halloween Party

Saturday (Oct. 28), 7:30 to 11:30 p.m., Eagle-Vail

Lola Rising provides the tunes for VBC's yearly Halloween party, where prizes will be given out for best costumes (male, female, and couple). Of course, a pumpkin beer (Gourd Range) will be a must. vailbrewingco.com

Stoneyard Distillery's Halloween Bash

Saturday (Oct. 28), 6 p.m. to 12 a.m., Dotsero

If the pirate's life is for you, consider dressing like one, and head down to Dotsero's rum distillery for a night of live music (starting at 8 p.m.), costume contests, a communal grill for potluck-styled eats, and, of course, rum, all available for attendees with no cover. 

The Dusty Boot's 10th Annual Halloween Party

Saturday (Oct. 28), 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., Eagle

Live music from Rewind highlights the Dusty Boot's 10th annual Halloween party, where costume clad attendees have a chance to win $1,000 in a Best Costume Contest held at midnight. A $10 cover is required for entrance. dustybooteagleranch.com

10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Co.'s Prohibition Party

Saturday (Oct. 28), 7 p.m. to 12 a.m., Gypsum

10th Mountain's distillery in Gypsum will be transforming itself into a 1920s-era speakeasy, where a ticket ($45 in advance, $50 at the door) gets you two drinks, "gambling" chips, and a chance to win prizes throughout the night. Tacos Tunes Tricks and Treats at Agave 

Tuesday (Oct. 31), 9 p.m., Avon

Agave Nightclub hosts Sublime cover band 40 oz. to Freedom on Halloween night, with tickets available for $10, and the music set to go on til closing time. agaveavon.com

Bol's Annual Halloween Bash

Tuesday (Oct. 31), 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., Solaris, Vail Village

DJ Shake One headlines at Vail Village's go-to spot for late-night beats and dancing, with the upscale bowling alley turned nightclub handing out raffle tickets for bottle service vouchers, gift cards, and coveted tickets to their New Year's Eve party. The event has a $10 cover (with ticketed VIP options available, too), and costumes are a must. bolvail.com
