While Airbnb has become a tourist's go-to resource for unique and affordable alternatives to spendy hotel rooms, a search for Airbnb accommodations in Vail and Beaver Creek yields no shortage of options at the stratospheric end of the economic spectrum. Here are the top three most expensive short-term rentals listed on Airbnb for the week of Christmas (Dec. 24 through Dec. 31).

184 West Meadow Drive, Vail Village

$10,167 nightly rate + taxes and fees.

Location, location, location—oh, and size—makes this rental on the banks of Gore Creek (across from the Four Seasons) the valley's most expensive listing on Airbnb. Although, with room for 16 guests, you could split the costs to shake out to around $635 per person, but then again, you'll have to share your private, creekside hot tub and firepit with everyone else.

The Arrabelle Retreat, Lionshead Village

$9,500 per night + taxes and fees.

It's hard to find a bad view anywhere in the valley, and from the Arrabelle penthouses that tower over Lionshead Village, it's virtually impossible (hence the nightly price tag). Guests to this listed Airbnb retreat get not only the benefit of slopeside living, but also access to all the luxe amenities of the Arrabelle resort, from private lockers to the ski valet.

Colorado Lodge Penthouse, Bachelor Gulch

$9,200 per night + taxes and fees.

When your home-away-from-home comes by way of a top-floor penthouse at the Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch, you know you're living the good life, as is your pooch, who can speak into the phone and order up a sirloin steak from the room service Pet Menu, and beg for the hotel's "Pampered Pup" in-room doggie massage
