The Colorado equivalent of the Tour de France returns for a second day in Vail, with some of the world's best cyclists tackling the legendary Vail Pass time trial—climbing 1,574 vertical feet over near 10 miles from Mountain Plaza in Vail Village to the summit of Vail Pass. (The women's race starts at 10 a.m., followed by the men at 2:30 p.m.) Although much of the Village was closed to vehicular traffic for the Colorado Classic's debut on Thursday, on Friday the Lionshead and Vail Village parking structures will be open as usual for anyone driving in to see the race start, although the Ford Park lot will remain closed. Spectators can line the route through Vail Village, or follow the bike path along Gore Creek to Big Horn Road and cheer riders as they begin the long grind up Vail Pass. coloradoclassic.com, vailgov.com
