At Beaver Creek, the finer things in life often pair quite well with mountain living, and the resort's annual celebration of food and drink, happening Thursday through Sunday this week (Jan. 19-22), is no exception. The Beav's Winter Culinary Weekend should serve up an appetizing itinerary for those new to the event, along with a medley of new offerings to satiate the palates of returning attendees. And although tastings, pairings, and multi-course meals take center stage, the weekend's line-up offers options for burning calories along with consuming them.
What's new this year?
The Culinary Weekend kicks off on Thursday evening with Paired with Patrón, which couples some of the tequila maker's most coveted small-batch varieties with a custom small plate menu created for the tasting. $70. 7 - 10 p. m., The Metropolitan.
If tequila's not your taste, reserve your spot for Allie's Cabin Featured Wine Dinner, also on Thursday. Attendees will be whisked away to the on-mountain cabin via an open-air sleigh, and treated to an evening of executive chef Kirk Weems' alpine-inspired creations. Wine pairings and fireworks will also be on hand to complement the experience. 7 - 10 p.m., Allie's Cabin.
Set your alarm for Friday morning's White Glove First Tracks & Gourmet Breakfast, also new to this year's event. Guests get guided access to the Beav's slopes to feast on sunrise freshies before heading to Allie's Cabin for a gourmet breakfast prepared by chef Weems and guest chef Maycoll Calderon. $150. 7:30 - 10 a.m., Centennial Express Lift and Allie's Cabin.
Sunday's conclusion to the four-day celebration of food and drink culminates in another ode to the decadent side of mountain living, with a Snowshoe & Sunset Supper at Trappers Cabin. A guided snowshoe tour takes guests through Beaver Creek's McCoy Park before ending at the cabin where slippers and an evening of wine-paired courses await. $200. 1:30 - 6:30 p.m., Beaver Creek Mountain.
This year include's another first: two free events for anyone looking to sample the festivities without blowing their weekend budget. Friday's Après-Ski Beer Garden will transform Beaver Creek Village into an outdoor beer hall, complete with live music and games, with activities running from 3 - 6 p.m. Saturday evening's Strolling Après also runs from 3 - 6 p.m., with Beaver Creek bars and restaurants offering food and drink specials in the Village area.
