For years, as other western mountain resorts hosted film festivals from the edgy to the influential, Vail Village has suffered without a cinema.

But this July will see the opening of an opulent three-plex, the CinéBistro cinema, as well the village’s first-ever bowling alley, in this case a Bol 10-lane facility. (Let’s see you pick up the 7-10 split, Telluride.) Both are slated as part of the new Solaris residential/retail complex on Meadow Drive.

Other family-friendly public amenities accompanying the development include an outdoor ice rink (in winter), a streetside plaza ideal for intimate concerts or just relaxing, a two-tiered shopping plaza and three restaurants.
