Steve Earl and Shawn Colvin headline the Avon Live! free summer concert series this Wednesday, August 31 at 5:30pm. They’ll be sure to play music from their collaboration Colvin & Earl. This powerful compilation features classics such at You’re Right (I’m Wrong) and is a partnership that is, says Rolling Stone Magazine, “a collaboration rooted in years of mutual appreciation.”
More music is on tap on Saturday night with the fun and very talented Tiffany Christopher at the Crazy Mountain Brewery on Saturday, September 3. A one-woman band, Christopher’s accompanies her unique vocal style with instruments ranging from kick drum, high hat, guitar, ukulele, piano, loops and effects. She raps. She dances. She stands on top of the kick drum while taking a lead guitar solo. She head bags while playing the drums. Her sound is one entirely unto itself and it’s worth getting there in time for the 6:00pm kick-off.
Also on Saturday, Beaver Creek’s Okotberfest returns with everything that makes this celebration of fall great. From local legend Helmut Fricker to big steins of the cold frosty to family friendly entertainment, the weekend-long is free to attend, but if you want one of those tasty soft pretzels, a brat or a beer, you will need your wallet.
