Colorado Grand

Sept 1314, 9 a.m., Lionshead Village

You’ll hear them before you see them: Colorado Grand returns to Vail this weekend. Every September, car enthusiasts from around the world drive approximately 85 vintage cars 1,000 miles through the Rockies in five days. A fundraiser for small Colorado charities and western slope towns, the Colorado Grand celebrates classic cars from the '20s and '30s and eye-catching models from car makers including Ferrari, Porsche, Bugatti, Alfa Romeo, Bentley and Aston Martin.

Vail Oktoberfest

Sept 13–15, Vail Village

Oktoberfest migrates from Lionshead to Vail Village for the weekend, and kicks off at noon on Friday with the official opening ceremony at 6 p.m. The iconic Helmut Fricker and his Rhinelanders band will provide the soundtrack along with other musical guests as lederhosen and dirndl-wearing guests dance, sing and raise their steins. Competitions include keg bowling, bratwurst eating, costume contests and stein lifting. Friday and Saturday evenings feature free concerts from Blu Krewe and Boogie Machine, respectively. Noon–10 p.m. Fri/Sat, noon–6 p.m. Sun.

The Rummage Sale of Eagle County

Sept 13–15, Eagle River Center (0794 Fairgrounds Rd), Eagle

Marking another new beginning for a more than 50-year-old tradition in Eagle County, The Rummage Sale of Eagle County returns this weekend to its new location in Eagle. This kitschy (and fun) fundraiser has been accepting donations of sporting goods, clothes, shoes, home décor and more for the past six weeks; this weekend, all of the donations are going on sale. Eagle residents who volunteer to help run the event have the opportunity to earn money for a local nonprofit of their choice, and all of the sale proceeds are donated back to community nonprofits. (Fri 59 p.m., Sat 8 a.m.5 p.m., Sun 10 a.m.5 p.m. Admission is $10 on Friday and $1 on Saturday and Sunday. Kids under 12 are free).

Dynafit MeadowGold 5K and 10K

Sept 14, 10 a.m., Holy Cross Ranger Station, Dowd Junction

Don’t miss the last race of the 2019 Vail Trail Running Series on Meadow Mountain in Minturn. With both a 5K and 10K option, MeadowGold runners will ascend technical singletrack on the beautiful West Grouse Trail and descend on double track with open views of Vail Mountain and the Gore Range. ($33 pre-registered, $38 week-of registration, $45 day-of registration)

Sept 14, 4-8 p.m. Beaver Creek Village

One of Beaver Creek’s newest events, Zusammen (German for “together”) transforms the resort village into a destination for sensory indulgence in music and cuisine from local chefs and restaurants. Spinphony, an electric string quartet, will provide the soundtrack as guests enjoy small plates at communal tables in the crisp fall air during this festive feast. Food and beverages available for purchase.
