Vail Legacy Weekend

Feb. 14-17, Vail Mountain

More than 50 years ago, Vail’s pioneers had a dream to build a world-class ski resort; Vail is the manifestation of that dream. During Vail Legacy Weekend, honor the soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division, meet members of the Colorado National Guard (stationed at the base of Gondola One all weekend, and arriving in style in a Black Hawk helicopter at the top of Chair 2 on Feb 15!) and celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Riva Ridge on Monday (Feb. 17) by taking a run down its Vail Mountain namesake, the resort’s longest (and same say finest) trail.


Beaver Creek Extraordinaire: Spangled

Feb. 14-17, Beaver Creek Village, Beaver Creek

It’s an illuminated celebration of America during President’s Day Weekend at Beaver Creek. Beaver Creek Extraordinaire: Spangled is chock-full of events inspired by American heritage that will appeal to the senses. Enjoy classics performed in a variety of musical styles to a gallery of professional snow sculptures depicting U.S. history. If you haven’t seen Lincoln made of snow, have you really celebrated the holiday?


Eagle ARTwalk Murder on Broadway

Nothing says Valentine’s Day like murder… Eagle ARTwalk’s Valentine's Day Date Night Murder Mystery takes participants to local businesses as they gather clues to figure out who “Mickey Scapone” while enjoying food, drinks and prizes. $20 per team of two in advance; $25 at the door. Black Diamond Ball

Dust off your tux and shake our your finest duds: The Black Diamond Ball is one of the highlights of the fundraising season and is the Vail Valley Foundation’s premier event. Featuring an interactive James Bone theme, dinner, dancing and more, this is one of the best reasons to eschew ski gear all winter. From $500.




SYNC Mountain Sports Education Series: Part One

Feb. 15, 6-8 p.m., SYNC Performance, Vail

The first in a two-part series, local avalanche instructor and backcountry ski guide Kelli Rohrig reviews one of the greatest avalanche education books of all time with topics including: avalanche basics, how avalanches work, terrain, weather, snowpack and more.


Cocktails and Canvas

Feb. 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Alpine Arts Center, Edwards

Grab your sweetie and prove that the couple that paints together, stays together. Enjoy cocktails and step-by-step guided painting to create a portrait of two little lovebirds. Complimentary sweet treats are available; beer, wine or Champagne is available for purchase. $45.




2020 Vail Athletic Club Vail Mountain Winter Uphill Race

Feb. 16, 7 a.m., Lionshead, Vail

Participants: Choose your mode of transport and showshoe, skin, spike, hike or Yaktrax your way 2,300 vertical feet and 2.5 miles of groomed trails to reach Eagle's Nest at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola in Lionshead during the Vail Mountain Uphill. Part two of the Vail Grail winter race series, this event features categories for both competitors and non-competitors while honoring the memory of Vail local Lyndon Ellefson; some of the race/hike entry fees support the U.S. Mountain Running Team. $35 in advance, $45 day of the race.


Champagne vs the World

Blizzard by Flip Fabrique

Feb. 16, 4:30 and 7 p.m., Vilar Performing Arts Center, Beaver Creek

A group of high-flying friends founded FLIP Fabrique in 2011 in Quebec and has since performed at festivals and on stages around the world. With Blizzard, FLIP Fabrique takes you on a crazy, poetic and gentle journey in the dead of winter and invites you to lose yourself in a moment of complete wonder. With performers at the peak of their art and outstanding visual poetry, Blizzard promises to blow away everything in its path. From $45 (kids), $60 (adults).
