Girl PowHER Fashion Show

March 6, 3-6 p.m., Vilar Performing Arts Center, Beaver Creek

Enjoy cocktails, music and a fashion show with plenty of energy during the Girl PowHER all while benefiting a good cause. Proceeds benefit Girl PowHER and its mission to empower young women mentally, emotionally and physically to ensure every girl reaches her full potential. From $125.


First Friday Art Opening

March 6, 5 –7 p.m., Vail Mountain Coffee & Tea Roastery Café, Minturn

Vail Mountain Coffee and Tea Roastery turns into an art gallery during the First Friday of the month. This month, artist Tracy Long is featured.


The Runaway Grooms at Alpine Arts Center 10th Anniversary Party

March 6, 6-9 p.m., Alpine Arts Center, Edwards

Creating accessible art with libations (if desired), Alpine Arts Center has been adding color to the valley for the past decade. Celebrate 10 years of everyone’s favorite maker-space with live music from Vail Valley-based rock band, The Runaway Grooms.




Chunky Blanket Making

March 7, 9:30 a.m. – noon, Hygge Life, Eagle-Vail

If you’re looking to add a little warmth and comfort to your winter, Hygge Life has the solution. Join Camille of Broadwick Fibers to create a handmade, chunky knit blanket make from beautiful, high quality wool yarn. Each class is 2.5 hours and is limited to five people per session—you’ll leave with new, hand-made throw. (Class fee is $280 which covers all of the materials and instruction, plus a coffee or tea).


5th Annual Barstool Races

March 7, noon-3 p.m., Minturn

A favorite in the pantheon of ridiculous races, Minturn’s Barstool Races showcase the thrills and spills that come from someone strapping a barstool to a pair of skis. The competition is fierce, the "sleds" are quirky and "Apres Stool Celebration" afterward is a party not-to-be-missed. Enter as an individual or a team; all proceeds benefit the Minturn Community Fund. $50.



March 7, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m., Ein Prosit, Avon

With a loyal and avid fan base, Eagle-based Hardscrabble is a favorite on the live music scene in the valley. Head to Ein Prosit for some bluegrass/new grass and Americana while enjoying a German brew.




Beaver Creek Snowshoe Race Series

March 8, Registration at 8:30 a.m., race at 10 a.m., McCoy Park, Beaver Creek

Enjoy a scenic stomp in the snow during the final installment of the Beaver Creek Running Series: Snowshoe Edition. This race (with both a 5K and 10K option) draws first-time snowshoers, world-class snowshoe athletes and everyone in between. The race takes place at McCoy Park Nordic Center at the top of the Strawberry Park Chair Lift in Beaver Creek and includes a free post-race meal. Prizes are awarded for the top three male and female finishers. $30 ages 5-17, $40 adults.
