Pack away those sweaters and jackets – it's supposed to be pushing 70 degrees in the Vail Valley this Saturday and Sunday, and we've scoured the valley for our top five weekend picks that we think pair perfectly with the weekend's weather.

Saturday, May 6

Bridge Street Derby Party

1 to 5 p.m., 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Co. Tasting Room, Vail Village

While you're packing away those winter jackets, grab your fancy hat and don your Derby Day best and head to 10th Mountain Whiskey – even if Bridge Street's token whiskey-sipping venue happens to be 1,200 miles away from Louisville. A $35 entrance fee to the local distillery's tasting room gives patrons a celebratory cup to fill with mint juleps – specially served for the occasion – Kentucky-style BBQ, and a raffle prizes.

Vail Derby Party

3 to 6 p.m., Maya at the Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa, Avon

You've been warned – hats are a requirement (and bow-ties are encouraged) at Maya's Derby party, where the valley's tequila HQ will be swapping its signature drink for bourbon sippers in honor of the Churchill Downs race. Proceeds from the event benefit the Children's Garden of Learning in Vail.

Kentucky Derby Revelry

3 to 6 p.m., The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch, Beaver Creek

Reserve your spot in the Ritz Carlton's Mountainside Terrace for Derby Day for drink specials, a buffet, and a premier viewing experience – this is the Ritz, after all. Don't forget appropriate attire – you know the drill, fancy hats and your Sunday-go-to-meetin' shoes – for the occasion.

Eagle bikes sm p38bzk

Moe's plays host to Saturday's Cycle Effect fundraiser.

Bikes and BBQ

3:30 p.m., Moe's Original Bar-B-Que, Eagle

If you're more into iron horses than flesh-and-blood thoroughbreds, check out the fundraiser for the Cycle Effect at Moe's Original B-B-Que's flagship location in Eagle. The mountain bike ride with the ladies of the Cycle Effect pedals off at 3:30 p.m., with an after-party at the BBQ joint set for 5 p.m., complete with raffles, drinks, and finger-licking food.

Sunday, May 7

Fish N Chicks with Vail Valley Anglers and Ladies of the Wild

10:30 a.m., Vail Valley Anglers, Edwards

Alright, ladies, bust out those rods and reels, it's time to try your hand at casting, courtesy of a females-only day of instruction provided by the guides at Vail Valley Anglers. Bring your own gear, or borrow theirs for the day; the $15 cost covers the instruction – with more experienced fisherwomen welcomed, as well – with cold beers afterwards.
