Hike to the Mic

Friday, September 15 through Sunday, September 17; Beaver Creek

Beaver Creek's first-ever Hike to the Mic art and music festival kicks off over the weekend, with live chainsaw art demonstrations, strolling art and après walks in Beaver Creek Village, and live music on the three-day itinerary. The main event is Saturday's signature Hike to the Mic, where attendees can trek, bike, or enlist the services of a custom 4x4 tour (or simply skip all of that and ride the gondola) to a mountaintop concert featuring Elvis Costello & the Imposters and Colorado bluegrass band Elephant Revival. beavercreek.com

La Sportiva Meadowgold 5k & 10k

10 a.m., Saturday, September 16; Meadow Mountain, Minturn

Runners take your marks, get set, and plan your Saturday morning around La Sportiva's summertime running series, this time at Meadow Mountain in Minturn. Race entrants can choose between a 5k or 10k courses while taking in views of Vail Mountain and Mount of the Holy Cross while they vie for the finish. active.com

Apex Women's Climbing Clinic

Vail Oktoberfest

Friday, September 15 through Sunday, September 17; Vail Village

Grab your stein — it might be mid-September but it's (still) Oktoberfest time! The annual ode to Bavaria continues, this time in Vail Village through the weekend, with a bratwurst eating contest, keg bowling competition, and local yodeler Helmut Fricker set to provide the weekend fun. vailoktoberfest.com

Oktoberfest at Flame

Friday, September 15 through Sunday, September 17; Flame at the Four Seasons, Vail Village

The Vail Village-based Four Seasons Resort & Residences is also planning some German-inspired fun for the weekend, with the luxury hotel chain planning its own Oktoberfest celebrations to run from noon to 4 p.m. Friday though Sunday.
