Paper Lantern Workshop with Helen Hiebert 

Friday, December 22, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Vail Public Library, Vail Village

Local paper artist Helen Hiebert teaches kids (and their families) how to make their own paper lanterns just in time for the village's Winterfest parade down Bridge Street (led by Santa himself).

Winterfest Parade & Ice Theater Screening

Friday, December 22, 4:30 p.m., Vail Village

Vail Village's annual Winterfest celebration starts at Slifer Square (the plaza just north of the covered bridge) before it parades down Bridge Street and ends at the Gore Creek Promenade, where a creekside ice theater will be screening "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" while servers at the nearby White Bison restaurant dole out hot chocolate and cookies.

Santa at the Riverwalk

Friday, December 22, 5 p.m., The Riverwalk, Edwards

An appearance by Santa and his reindeer, plus a cookie contest, carolers,  and hot cocoa and coffee mark the official start to the holiday weekend in Edwards.

If you're looking for some pre-holiday festivities for big kids, Agave hosts revered Sublime cover band 40 oz. to Freedom for an evening of rock-reggae hits from the '90s-era jam-band.

Flow into the holiday spirit with a special hour-long vinyasa practice (with accompanying tunes) hosted by lululemon and Eagle's Yoga off Broadway. Reservations are a must as space is limited.

The ghosts of Christmases past, present and future haunt the Vilar for two performances as Nebraska's North County Center for the Arts stages Charles Dickens' Christmas classic.


A Charlie Brown Christmas with Live Musical Accompaniment

The Westin's 7th annual screening of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" features local jazz duo Tony Gulizia and Brian Loftus providing the holiday classic's live score.

If you're planning on catching Santa doing the Midnight Shuffle on the night before Christmas, head over to Bridge Street bar for live music and a midnight Christmas countdown.
