Free Icebreaker Snowshoe Tour and Base Layer Demo

January 6, 10 a.m., Icebreaker Vail, Solaris, Vail Village

Outerwear company Icebreaker (located in Solaris) will be hosting a snowshoe tour at Minturn's Meadow Mountain, free (with transportation and equipment included) for the first 14 people who register. Guides from the valley's Walking Mountain Science Center will lead the tour. walkingmountains.org

Free Community Avalanche Forum

Vail's new boutique cinema hosts Colorado Avalanche Information Center forecaster Jason Konigsberg, who will talk about the condition of our local snowpack, and answer questions from the audience. Reps from Lionshead's Cripple Creek Backcountry shop and Minturn's Weston Snowboards will also be there, with the snowboard company screening video clips from their recent film, followed by a screening G.N.A.R.
