The Good Time Travelers

 January 5, 9 p.m. to 12 a.m., Vail Ale House, West Vail

Acoustic power duo The Good Time Travelers make a stop in West Vail, bringing their folk and bluegrass sound to the Vail Ale House's stage.


9:30 p.m. to 12 a.m., Agave Nightclub, Avon

Funk comes to life at Avon's late-night hotspot, as Agave plays host to soulful rock and roll guests Eufórquestra (pronounced you-fohr-kes-tra).

Primal J and the Neanderthals

9 p.m., Brush Creek Saloon, Eagle

Local rock and roll five-piece Primal J and the Neanderthals play into the wee hours of the morning down valley. 970-328-5279


Free Icebreaker Snowshoe Tour and Base Layer Demo

January 6, 10 a.m., Icebreaker Vail, Solaris, Vail Village

Outerwear company Icebreaker (located in Solaris) will be hosting a snowshoe tour at Minturn's Meadow Mountain, free (with transportation and equipment included) for the first 14 people who register. Guides from the valley's Walking Mountain Science Center will lead the tour.

Johnny Johnston Duo

4 to 7 p.m., Vail Brewing Company, Vail Village

Johnny Johnston comes to Vail Brewing Company's Vail Village tasting room, and brings his "hot fingerpickin'" brand of slide guitar with him.

Eagle's Christmas Tree Bonfire

6 p.m., Eagle Town Park, Eagle

Not sure what to do with your unadorned Christmas tree? Take it to Eagle's annual Town Park Christmas tree bonfire, where members of the Greater Eagle Fire Department are on hand to oversee a mass holiday tree incineration. Hot cocoa and ice skating are all part of the fun.

Free Community Avalanche Forum

7 to 9 p.m., Blue Starlite Cinema Social, Hotel Talisa, Vail

Vail's new boutique cinema hosts Colorado Avalanche Information Center forecaster Jason Konigsberg, who will talk about the condition of our local snowpack, and answer questions from the audience. Reps from Lionshead's Cripple Creek Backcountry shop and Minturn's Weston Snowboards will also be there, with the snowboard company screening video clips from their recent film, followed by a screening G.N.A.R. (a Shane McConkey ski classic) for a discounted rate.


St. Jude Red Carpet for Hope

January 7, 6 to 8 p.m., Hotel Talisa, Vail

A red carpet reception will welcome guests to St. Jude's annual Vail fundraiser, where a silent auction, cocktails, and a screening of the Golden Globe Awards will all be part of the philanthropic evening. Tickets are a must.

The Whiffenpoofs

7:30 p.m., The Vilar Performing Arts Center, Beaver Creek

The country's oldest and most prestigious collegiate a cappella group stages a show at Beaver Creek's performing arts center. $48 (adults) $28 (kids).
