Miller Ranch Open Space River Restoration Project

August 24, 3 to 6 p.m., Miller Ranch, Edwards

Eagle Valley Land Trust, Eagle River Watershed Council and Eagle County Open Space invite locals and visitors who recreate locally to help restore trails and habitat in the much-loved Miller Ranch Open Space along the Eagle River in Edwards on Friday afternoon (email [email protected] or call 970-827-5406 to register). 

Zdenek Zvolanek on Bohemian Gardens & Plants

August 24, 5:30 to 7 p.m., Betty Ford Alpine Gardens, Vail

Betty Ford Alpine Gardens hosts a meet and greet with world famous rock gardener Zdenek Zvolanek, who will be providing insights into garden design. Snack and drinks provided ($10 for members, $15 for nonmembers).

The Vail Valley Fine Art and Jazz Show

August 24, 6 to 8 p.m., Colorado Mountain College, Edwards

The Vail Valley Art Guild and Colorado Mountain College's Edwards campus host a reception for local artisans, photographers, and artists (and those who appreciate their work), with live jazz in the key of free.


La Sportiva 5k and 10k at 10,000 Feet

August 25, 8 a.m., Vail Mountain

Put your lungs and your legs to the test at the sixth installment of La Sportiva's summer running series, this time racing from the 10,000-foot summit station of Vail Mountain's Gondola One over 5k and 10k lengths of spectacular single track ($33 pre-registered, $38 week-of registration, $45 day-of registration).

Heart and Sole Family Fun Day

August 25, 9 a.m., Ford Park, Vail

Eagle County nonprofit Starting Hearts and local world-champion off-road triathlete Josiah Middaugh team up for a day of heart health and family fun, starting with a 5k run, yoga, 3k and 1k family walks and light breakfast; diversions include a bouncy castle, face painting booths, live music, health and wellness vendors, and CPR tutorials ($20/adult, $10/child, $40/family of 4).

Cardboard Boat Regatta

August 25, 11 a.m., Nottingham Lake, Avon

Captains a crew of cardboard yachts will be judged on most creative design, most dramatic sinking, fastest finish, and crowd appeal as they paddle across the waters of Nottingham Lake.

Pop-Up Strings Concert

August 25, 12 to 1:30 p.m., Nottingham Park & Pavilion

The Town of Avon's pop-up chamber concerts continue, with 90-minutes of music, light refreshments and inspirational views.

Zusammen: Communal Marketplace Dining

Outdoor Yoga with Tanya Miller
