November 30, 9 a.m., Beaver Creek

The World Cup's annual stop at Beaver Creek's racecourse is back, with Friday's competition featuring Super G races (10:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.)—plus, live soul music from The Monophonics (3 to 6 p.m.), an athlete signing at Gorsuch (4 to 5 p.m.), and an awards ceremony (with a finale fireworks show, 5:45 to 6:15 p.m.) on deck for the day's events. bcworldcup.com

Artists' Holiday Market

November 30, 12 to 6 p.m., Alpine Arts Center, Edwards

The Riverwalk's Alpine Arts Center unveils a three-day holiday market filled with handmade gifts by local artists. alpineartscenter.org

Minturn Town Tree Lighting

November 30, 6 to 7 p.m., Minturn

Hot cocoa, holiday music, and a reading of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" are all part of Minturn's annual tree lighting festivities. Don't forget to choose an ornament off the town's "Giving Tree" during the party, as all ornaments have wishlist items benefitting local families in need. gominturn.com

Reel Rock 13

November 30, 6 to 9 p.m., Eagle Climbing + Fitness, Eagle 

The valley's newest hangout hosts a screening of this year's climbing film series "Reel Rock" on its hangar-sized climbing wall, with proceeds from the film going to the local nonprofit Live Like Logan Foundation ($10 for students, $15 for adults).

Birds of Prey

December 1, 9 a.m., Beaver Creek

Downhill gets its day on the hill for Saturday's Bird of Prey competition (11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.), along with live music by Beau Thomas (1 to 3 p.m.) and The Hackensaw Boys (3 to 6 p.m.) and the Beers of Prey après-ski tasting (2 to 6 p.m.). Just make sure you stick around well after the sun goes down for the Tincup Whiskey POWer Hour (8 to 10 p.m.), when the Colorado whiskey distiller will be on hand with cocktails (with $1 for each drink served going to Protect Our Winters). bcworldcup.com
