Along with destroyed homes, displaced Colorado residents, and air quality warnings around the state due to last summer's explosive wildfire season and subsequent Stage 2 Fire Restrictions (which banned almost any type of open flame outside residential or commercial dwellings for the vast majority of the season), this past summer's hot and dry conditions had another deleterious consequence: the 4th of July fireworks show that annually lights up the sky over Nottingham Lake in Avon was abruptly cancelled due to conditions. That is, until now, as the Town of Avon is set to celebrate its Salute to the 4th on Friday, January 25 (5 to 8 p.m.), with its signature pyrotechnic display, and some winter perks, like (free!) ice skating and rentals, fire pits, and a visit from the valley's favorite taco truck, Rocky Mountain Taco.
