Cordillera Sounds of Summer Concert Series

July 12, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Bearcat Stables, Edwards

Bearcat Stables is celebrating summer with a season-long (free!) concert series—starting with Friday night's performance by country music singer/songwriter Mark Powell. Food and drinks will be sold at the show, and don't forget to bring a blanket or lawn chair.

The Philadelphia Orchestra

July 12, 6 p.m., Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, Vail

Bravo! Vail welcomes the Philadelphia Orchestra to the stage for a Friday night performance of Mozart & Rachmaninoff under the alpenglow colored shadow of Golden Peak (lawn seating start at $39 per person).

Vail Farm to Table Dinner Series

July 12, 6 to 8 p.m., Vail Village

If the Vail Farmers' Market and Art Show is a summertime must, don't miss the first installment of the Market's farm-to-table dinner series, when guest chefs take advantage of fresh Colorado produce in a plein-air dining setup (with wine pairing) that sprawls down East Meadow Drive in Vail Village ($115 per person).

Yarmony All Stars at Vail Ale House

July 12, 10 p.m., Vail Ale House, Vail

If you love finger-pickin' bluegrass music, don't miss Saturday's show at the Vail Ale House in West Vail; West Vail's haunt for late-night music will be hosting a who's who of performers at the annual Yarmony Music Festival (August 8-11, Rancho del Rio) for a jam session that should have the crowd moving and grooving til the wee hours of the morning.


Tosca: A Premier Opera Production

July 13, 6 p.m., Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, Vail

Bravo! Vail and the Philadelphia Orchestra are bringing opera to the amphitheater, as the summer-long music festival premiers its very first operatic performance (Giacomo Puccini's "Tosca") for the sea of blankets on the lawn by Golden Peak on Saturday night (lawn seating starting at $39).


Steve Martin and Martin Short

July 14, 7:30 p.m., Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, Vail

Legendary funny-men Steve Martin and Martin Short make their debut at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater as part of their "Now You See Them, Now You Don't" tour, with bluegrass rockers The Steep Canyon Rangers joining them on stage for the Vail leg of the show ($65 for lawn seating, reserved seating starting at $179.50).
