The Gashouse has been a staple in the Vail Valley for over 43 years, offering great food at reasonable prices. In February 1983, I opened The Gashouse after renovating one of the first buildings in Edwards—a historic log cabin from the 1930s that operated as a gas/service station. The name Gashouse comes from a family member, Abner Doubleday, who invented baseball in 1839 and had a team called the Gashouse Gang. We are the second-longest-running restaurant in the Vail Valley! 

Lunch and dinner are very popular with locals and visitors. Walking through the front door of The Gashouse Restaurant is like taking a step back into Western history. The building itself carries a large portion of Vail Valley lore. Over the years, I have steadily collected museum-worthy aspects of Western-heritage memorabilia. On the walls are treasures beyond compare, including Chris the Moose, affectionally called Christmoose. Indigenous and historic hunting trophies from all over the West were donated by locals and friends. License plates are from the 50 states and around the world. The bar is laminated with ski passes from local notables, celebrities, and Olympians.

An amazing menu featuring the largest selection of wild game (elk, venison, buffalo, and quail), Wagyu beef, and fresh seafood flown in daily from both coasts. The house specialty crab cakes are my grandmother’s recipe from Maryland. Don’t forget to try the best fried chicken this side of the Mississippi!

Plus, we have an expansive wine list to satisfy any wine enthusiast, beers on tap, and delicious cocktails.
