On Turquoise Lake, boating is allowed, as is fishing (for $150 you can book a two-hour guided trip with Colorado Fly Fishing Guides, 504 Harrison Ave, 866-908-7547, coloradoflyfishingguides.com). But most people come here to overnight at one of three campgrounds (Baby Doe, Molly Brown, and May Queen, reservations available at recreation.gov) and simply bask in the majesty of Leadville’s trio of fourteeners cleaving the sky at sunset. As should you.
