Vail and Beaver Creek Lingo
“See ya at Pete’s”
Pete’s (as in Pete’s Express, named after Vail Mountain co-founder Pete Seibert) isn’t a bar or restaurant: It’s pretty much the only lift on Vail Mountain that locals refer to by name instead of number (Chair 39). It’s also the resort’s highest quad, topping out at 11,570 feet and providing access to Blue Sky Basin. Tasty tip: The Dawg Haus, a popular, quick-service hut serving gourmet hot dogs, chili, and canned drinks, sits at the base.
“11 at 11”
You’ll hear this one a lot, whether it’s around town, on the ski shuttle, or on the lift among friends from the Front Range. It means meet at 11 a.m. at the top of Chair 11 (Northwoods Express), Vail Mountain’s version of Grand Central Station’s information booth clock, a rallying point that offers access to both the front and back sides of the mountain.

Cookie Time
“Cookie Time”
When skiing Beaver Creek, keep tabs on the clock, because every day at 3 p.m., the resort’s chefs hand out freshly baked chocolate-chip cookies at the base of Centennial Express (Chair 6). And when they’re gone, they’re gone!
“Heading to Cascade”
A reference to Vail Mountain’s westernmost Cascade Village Lift (Chair 20).
