The groomed Nordic track in Eagle-Vail
In the summer the community’s public 18-hole golf course is at the center of life, a greenspace oasis abutting the White River National Forest where off-leash dogs frolic and neighbors partake of friendly games of disc golf. In the winter, under a blanket of snow, the course evolves into a groomed Nordic track, where kids and adults burn calories (some skijoring behind their dogs) and games of pond hockey take place on the links’ frozen water features. From the highway, you can catch a new Eagle-Vail community shuttle to Vail or take a public bus to the Beav, where at the end of the day residents duck out a gate near the Rose Bowl lift and ski home via a sidecountry trail along Stone Creek that exits onto the snow-covered greens.
“You’re right between both world-class resorts and right on the bus route,” says BHHS broker Kevin Denton, who grew up in the neighborhood with Mikaela Shiffrin. “The incredible aspect of Eagle-Vail is that you can ski into Eagle-Vail. We did that a ton of times. My parents would drive us up to Beaver Creek, drop us off, and we would ski home, following the gulch onto the 17th tee box all the way downhill to the driving range.”
At the top of Whiskey Hill, snowshoe trails abound, and the 65-foot drop from the golf club’s first tee doubles as a sledding hill. Family nirvana.
