Vail-Beaver Creek Weekend Agenda: January 19-21

Beaver Creek's Winter Culinary Weekend is back, and we've rounded up the festival's must-try tastings. Plus—music at the Vilar, a Nordic 5k, and a One Love dance party.

Beaver Creek First Tracks & Gourmet Breakfast

January 19, 7:30 to 10 a.m., Centennial Express Lift and Allie's Cabin, Beaver Creek Mountain

Beaver Creek's annual Winter Culinary Weekend is back, and breakfast is no exception. Skip the lift lines and book your spot and hit the slopes for a sunrise ski to the Beav's on-mountain Allie's Cabin, where a breakfast spread—including mimosas and Bloody Mary's— awaits ($150 per person). beavercreek.com

Guided Snowshoe Excursion & Lunch

January 19, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Beaver Creek Mountain & Grouse Mountain Grill, Beaver Creek

If you can't make it for sunrise, consider booking a spot on the Winter Culinary Weekend's lunch ticket, where snowshoers will be rewarded with Grouse Mountain Grill executive chef David Gutowski and James Beard Award winner Marco Canora's mid-day meal — and wine pairings from Peay Vineyards ($150 per person). beavercreek.com

Aprés Village: Burgers & Beers 

January 19, 3 to 6 p.m., Beaver Creek Village

Béla Fleck with Brooklyn Rider

January 19, 6:30 p.m., Vilar Performing Arts Center, Beaver Creek

Banjo extraordinaire (and 15-time Grammy Award winner) Béla Fleck teams up with string quartet Brooklyn Rider for a Beaver Creek stop on a multi-year tour that's won accolade and standing ovations across North America ($88 per person). vilarpac.org 

Guest Chef Dinner with Jonathan Waxman

January 19, 6:30 to 10 p.m., Splendido at the Chateau, Beaver Creek

Winter Culinary Weekend's premier dinner features bites from Splendido's executive chef Brian Ackerman and visiting James Beard Award-winner Jonathan Waxman—plus wines from Napa icon Quintessa ($200 per person). beavercreek.com

Mules & Manhattans

Free Icebreaker Snowshoe Run with Josiah Middaugh

January 20, 10 a.m., Solaris, Vail Village

Meet at Icebreaker's Solaris location in Vail Village and head to the hills with Walking Mountains Science Center naturalist and word champion triathlete (and Eagle-Vail local) Josiah Mddaugh for a snowshoe jaunt in the woods. Afterwards, head back to the store for free hot cocoa. The event is free for the first 14 participants registered with Walking Mountains Science Center. walkingmountains.org 

2018 Vail Nordic Citizen's Race

January 20, 12 p.m., Vail Nordic Center, Vail

Battle Mountain High School Nordic teams hit the track before the town's annual Citzen's Race, where participants hit the course for a 5k skate. Vail Nordic Center hosts the after party, where snacks and prizes will be up for grabs ($25-$35 for adults, $15-$25 for students). vailrec.com

Apres Village: Pizza & Prosecco

January 20, 3 to 6 p.m., Beaver Creek Village

Winter Culinary Weekend's apres-ski crawl transforms into a pizza pie and sparkling wine village, with slices and beverages available for purchase at the unticketed event. beavercreek.com

My Perfect Pizza Kids' Cooking Class

January 20, 4 to 5 p.m., Blue Moose Pizza, Beaver Creek

Bring your little sous chefs to the Blue Moose for a pizza clinic, with all lesson materials available to eat afterwards ($20 per child). beavercreek.com

Winter Culinary Weekend Grand Tasting

January 20, 7 to 10 p.m., The Park Hyatt, Beaver Creek

The Beav's Winter Culinary Weekend's annual send-off features all of the festival's award-winning guest chefs under one roof—plus all the visiting wine makers and cocktail specialists from the weekend's events, and some of the valley's best restaurants making an appearance, too ($175 per person). beavercreek.com

One Love Dance Party

January 20, 9 p.m., Vail Ale House, West Vail

Dj Weez and Dj Bloodpreshah bring the island vibes to West Vail's Ale House, where Avon's Colorado Meat Co. and green mile staple Roots RX will be on hand giving away prizes all night (free to the public). vailalehouse.com

Sunset Snowshoe & Sunday Supper

January 20, 3:30 to 9 p.m., Allie's Cabin, Beaver Creek Mountain

If good things comes to those who wait, consider the Winter Culinary Weekend's final event the ultimate prize for patience. Guests are welcomed to Allie's Cabin after a sunset snowshoe with slippers and a warm drink, followed by course after course prepared by executive chef Kirk Weems.
