Although Lindsey Vonn went to South Korea hoping to wear gold around her neck, at press time, Chris Bivona was really hoping she would wear one of his signature trucker caps on her head if she ended up on the podium in PyeongChang. Bearing four gilded letters (“VONN”) and the name of his business (Ski Town All-Stars), the 10,000 trucker caps Bivona printed for East Vail’s golden girl and assembled by hand in his West Vail garage are the flagship of his Ski Town Project series, a hat-oriented fundraiser that benefits local charities. As such, unlike Ski Town’s best-selling “LARA GUT IS A BABE” or its “MAKE VAIL FUN AGAIN” truckers, $10 from every VONN hat sold will be donated to the Lindsey Vonn Foundation ($36, skitownallstars.com). “I’m doing everything myself, and there’s hats everywhere,” says Bivona, who pretty much tapped out his storage capacity with all the truckers he made for the Olympian. “I just bought a new house in the Chamonix development, but it has a one-car garage; I might need to see if I can upgrade to a two-car garage for more work space.”

Mikaela's signature cap.

Not to be outdone, Eagle-Vail’s Mikaela Shiffrin released her own PyeongChang-edition trucker cap, bearing a monogrammed Old Glory in the shape of her ski goggle lens and branded with the logo of her sponsor (Barilla) and her signature (“Miki”). In collaboration with bigtruck, a Lake Tahoe-based company that specializes in headwear, she was offering her cap at a slightly more competitive price ($35, bigtruck.com). Vonn, who has petitioned to race the men at Lake Louise, would appreciate the motto stitched on the back: “ABFTTB” (Always Be Faster Than The Boys).
