Vision Drives Frost Creek’s Reputation as a Premier Mountain Club
Founded in 2015, the club’s story is that of taking the best of traditional club life and combining it with the elegant ruggedness of Eagle County’s most sought after outdoor activities.
It’s a place where white uniformed caddies and khaki clad fly fishermen trade stories of impossible shots and “the big one that ate my dry fly”. A vision that draws both the young and young at heart; those who find peace in the quietude of the mountains and a fun and energetic community of mountain golf enthusiasts from around the Country.
Since inception, Frost Creek has caught the attention of golf aficionados. The Tom Weiskopf-designed course saw relatively little play in its 10-plus years of existence prior to its sale and relaunch as Frost Creek. With the vision of owner Chad Brue and his organization Brue Baukol Capital Partners, the club grew in leaps and bounds catching regional and national recognition. First, it grew in members and activities, then in the construction of beautiful homes all with an evident but approachable element of classy modern luxury. Nowhere is this more evident than in the 40,000 square-foot clubhouse which anchors the club and serves as the backdrop for member interaction and boasts exceptional cuisine that draws inspiration from regional dishes throughout the United States.
Director of Sales, Kakie Holland says those things developed methodically; adding services, activities, member cabins, and eventually 44 homes in the Hunter’s View neighborhood to complement the nearly 50 custom homes currently built on site today. Most of the construction has taken place in the last five years and as Holland points out today Frost Creek is roughly seventy percent built out, with some remaining homesites offering construction plans and some without, each with its own unique characteristics. There are also homes available ranging from the low to mid $2 million range to $5.7 million.
Always a focal point, the golf course looks better than ever. Recent brush removal through partnership with local wildland fire crews has resulted in large open parks adjacent to the course and increased visibility of Brush Creek and wildlife throughout the back nine. In addition, this provided space and topography for Frost Creek’s growing internal network of singletrack multi-use trails.
“We have 11 miles of trail on site today,” said Mike Gibbs, president and general manager. “Terrain varies from relatively flat bottomland stretches that meander along Brush Creek to trails with considerable climbing and descending to get the heart pumping. A system of interconnected loops, there is something for everyone.”
Frost Creek keeps a fleet of top-notch mountain bikes (electric and not) onsite for members who don’t bring their own. Fly rods and equipment are also available through the activities yurt.
Summer of 2024 marks the first-ever formation of a Frost Creek fishing committee. The group is made up of members from all walks of life who actively contribute to the management and continued improvement of fishing onsite. The group will help direct fishing-related improvements and activities and serve as ambassadors of the Brush Creek fly fishing experience.
“We are actively creating a robust and sustainable fly fishing program that teaches those who want to take up the sport the fundamentals all while providing varying levels of fishing challenges that will keep the best anglers on their toes,” said Gibbs.
Fishing has become such a secondary focus that five additional member cabins, available for rent while on site, were constructed near Brush Creek and offer members and their guests unparalleled access to Brush Creek right outside the door and are configured and designed with angling groups in mind.
“We are committed to continuing to make Frost Creek the premier luxury mountain club in Colorado. That means providing exceptional experiences in dining, golf, social, and onsite amenities. Vision brought us this far and attracted the wonderful members we have today. We look forward to continuing to deliver on our earned reputation as, ‘Colorado’s Mountain Club’,” said Gibbs.
In the spirit of maintaining a youthful membership base, Frost Creek recently established a Young Professional membership category, which makes membership attainable for a younger generation of members. This complements Frost Creek’s additional available membership options.
