The Lion takes over a footprint previously occupied by The Lionshead Inn and the Vail Glo Lodge, and offers a fresh take on design that departs from the more traditional Tyrolean-inspired architecture of Vail's past (and present).

While the design is modern, reclaimed wood used throughout the interior adds a rustic -- and trendy -- look.

Fieldstone and fireplaces dominate the entryway, which includes a concierge desk and on-site manager for owners.

Along with the indoor pool (next to the workout area), an outdoor pool with patio and fireplaces offers stunning views of Vail Mountain.

Fluid floor plans allow owners (and prospective buyers) an opportunity to personalize their spaces, including penthouses with sweeping views from (enormous) wrap-around terraces.

Modern accents are a staple throughout the interior, with top-of-the-line building materials keeping to the luxury theme.

Owners can take advantage of on-site ski lockers located on the bottom floor near the building's reception area.

By next ski season, The Lion, steps from Vail Mountain, will have a fine-dining restaurant that will be open to the public.

There's a new silhouette on the Lionshead skyline, and no, it's not another construction crane. The Lion, Lionshead's latest luxury address is open for business, with builder PCL Construction aiming to put the finishing touches on the project by June, weather permitting; a new fine-dining restaurant on the ground floor (with underground parking, score!) is set to open (hopefully) by next season. The Lion boasts 65 private residences with unique floor plans (including several penthouses with panoramic views of both Vail Mountain and the Beav), and amenities like indoor and outdoor pools, and ski lockers, for prospective buyers. And while the multi-million dollar price tag attached to any one of the units might be beyond the reach of most locals, the latest addition to Lionshead is worth a peruse as it's a bellwether for even more luxurious building projects to come.
